station in Dublin or around the country! It’s a FACT! (Except for that
national radio station next door to us on the band… think they’re called
2… something or other).
We NEVER talk over your favourite oldie of which you’ve taken the time
out to text us and request us to play!
For years since 1989, Radio stations have been manipulating listeners
into believing that the play the best music. The fact is that they have
an extremely small amount of chart hits of the past in their music
library, but just pick a couple here and there and bang off “The Best
Music”. They are in effect a Jukebox trying to be a Radio Station.
They’ve been doing this since 1989 and the end result is over this way
over the last twelve years is that the listener’s forget about the all
the rest of those Chart Top 40 hits singles which were big from the last
several decades past such that if they did try to do this now the
average person probably wouldn’t remember the songs they’re playing
simply because they haven’t played in over in over twelve years!
e.g. Let’s take Madonna who has been CONSISTENTLY BIG over the years
since the early eighties. Do you think Radio stations have EVERY song
from Madonna in their music library? They don’t! They would only have a
few of her many hit singles.
They also choose what songs they do stock and play on air based on a
survey each year which happens to be TOTALLY INACCURATE and DOES NOT
reflect the general public’s favourite music interests! When was the
last time someone came up to you and asked you what bands and pop groups
and songs you like? It’s certainly never happened to me!
This is essentially why we run this show. To span the charts over the
last three decades and let the listener’s have their favourite oldies
played and is particularly more rewarding for us when it’s forgotten,
obscure hits that we wouldn’t be expected to have available to play. We
obviously haven’t got EVERY Oldie hit single in are music library, but
is getting bigger every week and there’s only one other radio station
around the country who’s trying to take a leaf out of our book (which
incidentally just happens to be another national station) and we’re
happy to say have a lot of catching up still to do when it comes to
updating their music library).
So if you like the oldies join us from 7 – 10pm every Monday and let us
play your favourite oldie for especially for you!
