Single Review:

Artist: 50 Cent
Track: In Da Club
Our verdict 9/10

At a time of the year when it seems there is no new tracks that really blow you away, 50 Cent release “In Da Club”. This track is one of the best tunes I’ve heard from 50 and even the radio edit makes you turn up the volume. The only problem with this track is that it is so good that it could be killed quite quickly by radio overplay. This track is excellent and my advise to you is go out and buy it!

Artist: B2K / P Diddy
Track: Bump, Bump, Bump
Our verdict 4/10

Nooooooo! Not another release from Diddy, I hear you say; as it seems whenever we put on MTV we see either Kelly Rowland, Justin or P. F***in’ Diddy. I suppose we will just have to deal with it though. This track is moderate in lyrical content and in its “all been done before” beat. I sit here asking myself will B2K ever make a real impression on us or will we just be forced to listen to a boy band with a hard man act?

Artist: J LO / LL Cool J
Track: All I Have
Our verdict 6/10

It never takes long for Jenny to bring out a hit track and it looks like the follow up to “Jennie From The Block”, will enjoy the same kind of success. I cant really see myself playing this track in the clubs as it’s a touch slow for me but maybe there will be a nice remix to follow. LL’s style really compliments J LO, but as I’m not a huge fan of her, I hope you will excuse me for not jumping up and down with excitement. Not a bad track but not a great track. You can find the new single on J LO’s new album, “This Is Me…..Then”.

Album Review:

Artist: Justin Timberlake
Album: Justified
Our verdict 7/10

This is the debut album from the ex N-Sync member and although he has found it hard to fight his way into a market that is mainly black, he has done an excellent job. The latest release from the album is a double A side single with, “Rock Your Body” and “Cry Me A River”. Although I do like the album, I found myself listening to it maybe three or four times and then put it in my case, probably never to see the light of day again. In my opinion, it will be hard to top the success that he has/will have with the first single release.

Artist: Tyrese
Album: I Wanna Go There
Our verdict 7/10

First brought to the limelight by Coca Cola, Tyrese has become one of my favourite R&B vocalists. The album is the type of album that you put on when you’re feeling a little frisky and looking for more than a cuddle off your partner, or just want to chill to after a hard days work. One thing I did notice is that almost every track on the album starts off the same but they are all quite different.. If your music taste includes Boyz To Men, Joe and Usher, this is a must have.

Artist: Sean Paul
Album: Dutty Rock
Our verdict 7/10

Sean Paul first blew us away last year with “Gimmie The Light” and just when the track was getting a little old, he incorporated Busta Rhymes into the remix to give the tune a new lease of life. With Raggae music only really developing in this country, Sean Paul is up there with Beenie man. There are some sweet tracks on the album like, “Can You Do The Work” feat Cecile, Punky and My name as well as the remix of “Gimmie The Light”. I see big things happening for this young man, especially if the reggae trend continues to grow.
